Extracts from minutes of the club meeting held on 5-5-16
Racing: Members continue to ride at Cyclopark. Grace Dent recently finished fourth in one of the events. Mat Robertson continues to perform well in events organised through the British Cycling paraolympic development setup. In the national championships in Derby Mat won the bronze medal in the time trial event. In the circuit race he won the silver medal. Mat, who is a junior, is racing against seniors.
Events: Spring in the Park series (Cyclopark): The competition commences on 6-5-16. Terry Blake is promoting the series. Woolwich C. C. is to marshal on 3-6-16 and 1-7-16. 6/8 helpers are required on the night, starting from 6pm. ECCA marshalling commitment on 24-7-16: Terry Blake has volunteered to marshal on the day. SERRL 8 members have volunteered to help at the event on 5-6-16. Members advised of the ECCA track championship (Olympic Velodrome) on 24-6-16. Club Time Trail competitions 10 mile T. T. on 4/6/16 De Laune event. 25 mile T.T. 7/8/16 De Laune event. A training session (coach Mick McLaughlin) is to be held on 8-5-16 at Cyclopark for members who are interested in riding competitively on the circuit. A coaching session (Terry Blake) is being held at the Olympic Velodrome on Sunday 8-5-16. The Clubs track championship is to be held on 12-6-16 at the Velodrome (Sunday evening 7-9pm)
Go-Ride: Anne Wright (coach) has arranged for the club to visit the Bedgebury Centre on Saturday 7-5-16. Family event. The section is targeting having a minimum of 20 members attending the Saturday sessions. Anne has been successful in renewing the Club's clubmark status. Clubmark is awarded by Sport England. As a condition of the award British Cycling has called upon the club to amend its constitution when it comes to admitting new members to the club. A proposal to amend the constitution is to be put to members at the AGM in October 2016. A proposer and a seconder will be required before the proposition can be put before the Club.
Clubruns: In the region of 30 members are turning out for the Sunday run. In an informal basis three groups, based on ability and fitness, are arranged on the day. New riders on a Sunday require to be guided and it will be necessary for experienced members to assist over the summer months.
Sundry: Club Kit: An order for 45 items (jerseys and shorts) received from members. Additional items ordered to complete a full order (to go into stock). A discussion took place about the process for the ordering of the kit when it came to female sizes. The matter was fully aired and members took on board that more detail should have been given to this matter. However, our kit supplier Nico Sport has agreed to provide garments for females. Individuals can now submit orders direct to Nico Sport. Xmas Dinner. Members were advised that the Xmas lunch has been set for 4-12-16 at the Kings Head.
Club future/structure. A discussion took place about the ongoing evolvement of the club. Members were asked to come forward with ideas, what they could do for the club, by way of encouragement and communication. One of the suggestions aired was for members to come forward to take coaching qualifications, which will be financed by the club and or local government grants if available. It was also mentioned that the website be freshened up, members were asked for items to be added to the site.
Club Track Bikes: The club agreed to reimburse Terry with the cost of fitting specialised tyres to the club's stock of track bikes £60.
