Extracts from the minutes of the September 2016 meeting.
Finance: Michael Bridges is to continue in the role of the Treasurer in order to finalise the end of year accounts. From October 2016 Sam Lower will take on the role. Sam after October will arrange to transfer the Club’s deposit account balance to the current account, as no worthwhile interest being earned. £279 in respect of new kit was paid to the club. The racing fund is showing a balance of £682. £200 is to be awarded to Megan Panton to assist with expenses that she has recently incurred while racing on behalf of the club. Members who race on behalf of the club are encouraged to apply to the fund for assistance with expenditure.
Racing: No race results advised to the Racing Secretary. Members are encouraged to advised Mick McLaughlin of their race results in order that they may be added to the website. As the event designated as the Club Road Race championship was cancelled it has been agreed to identify a closed road race circuit (i.e. Cyclopark) which will be designated as the 2016 road race championship. Club Hillclimb: The championship will be held on 2-10-16. To be incorporated in the Wigmore event. For information the Catford Hillclimb is being held on 9-10-16. SERRL: Member clubs have been advised that the organiser of the league Kim Anderson is stepping down. Kim is apparently seeking assistance from member clubs to take on the running of the league from 2017.
Go-Ride: New session starts on 10-9-16. First session of the year to be held at Bexley Grammar school. The school is to be used once per month. Efforts are being made to secure the use of Cyclopark for one of the monthly sessions. Pamphlets advertising the club have been circulated via local schools and libraries.
A big thank you to Dean Stanhope who has agreed to take on the role of the Welfare Officer for the club. This is a very important role as the Go-Ride section would not be allowed to continue by British Cycling in the absence of a designated welfare officer.
Clubrun: Observations have been made about the clubrun which is held on the last Sunday of the month. The object of the run, which leaves Bexley at 8.30am, is to allow members to travel a greater distance without having to compromise when it comes to the return home leg. It appears that in recent months the run has broken up, quite soon, after leaving Bexley. Members are to try and arrange to have a more controlled run, setting a more reasonable pace, especially for members who normally take part in the 2nd Sunday group run.
Xmas Lunch: The lunch which is to be held on 4-12-16 at the Kings Head, Bexley. It has been agreed that those attending must pay for the meal in advance. Payments will be taken on or after the October 2016 meeting. Based on the previous year the cost will be £15 per head.
British Cycling Regional Meeting: To be held on 12-9-16. Attending on behalf of the club: Terry Blake, Martin Messer and Michael Bridges.
British Cycling South East Velodrome coaching sessions. Terry Blake is holding a session at the velodrome on 11-9-16. Priority is to be given to lady riders, with male riders making up any shortfall in the number permitted to take part on the day. Club members are encouraged to come along and take part.
Club Clothing: The current outstanding order is scheduled to be received within the next 2/3 weeks. Delay due to annual holidays in Belgium. Part of the order is to satisfy the demand from the Go-Ride
members. A grant was received from the Jack Petchey fund to assist with the cost of the club kit for the Go-Ride members.
Go-Ride: Rollapaluza: With the assistance of a Jack Petchey grant a Rollapaluza event is being held on 17-11-16, between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Freemantle Hall, Bexley Village. This involves roller racing (http://www.rollapaluza.com/). There is a restriction on age for those taking part (Jack Petchey guidelines 12-25 years). However, all club members are welcome to come along and get involved.
