Extracts from minutes of October 2016 meeting
Jimmy Hayward has been flying high in Hillclimbs. Reading 2 stage, finished 2nd overall. Bigfoot (Exedown Hill) finish first and created a course record, Wigmore Finished first (club champion for 2016). Woolwich team of Jimmy Hayward Alex Pearson and Kevin Armstrong won the team event. Megan Panton was the 2nd Lady finisher and George Martin finished 3rd junior. Mountain Biking at Bedgebury: Robbie White won the under 16's event with Sam Dale finishing 3rd. In the Seniors endurance event Rob Dale partnered by Russell White finished 5th overall. National Schools Championship: Matthew Robertson in now the National Schoolboy champion (paracycling).
Cyclopark: Summer in the park series 2017. The club has intimated that it will promote one event under the series banner next year. It has been made known to the organiser of the series that the club will assist at another of the events should the need arise.
An awarded scheme has been introduced for members aged 8-12 years (Bronze, silver and gold awards). The club received a Jack Petchey award of £750 for Leadership. The award is to be earmarked to covering the cost of the Rollapaluza event in November.
It was drawn to member’s attention that guests on clubruns can attend on two occasions as invitees and will be covered by the British Cycling insurance arrangement. Thereafter the club will call upon the individual to join the club and suggest that a form of 3rd party insurance is taken out. The forthcoming clubrun is to take in the Catford hillclimb. Racing in the event are Jimmy Hayward, Alex Pearson and Oz.
Racing fund: £200 awarded to Megan Panton to cover expenses while racing on behalf of the club. Club Xmas Dinner (4-12-16 Venue Kings Head, Bexley): Bob Younger is to ascertain the cost of a two course buffet and the start time of the event. Names to Bob by the next Club meeting in November. Neil Robertson has kindly agreed to run the raffle on the day. The club prize presentation will be held on the day. Clothing: The club has agreed that an order for a supply of jerseys of various sizes will be placed with Nico Sport. The order is to meet the need to have a supply in stock to replace any damaged jerseys and to meet the needs of new members.
