Extracts from minutes of November 2015 meeting
General Secretary: The Secretary thanked Henry Sullivan for taking the minutes at the previous meeting.
Treasurers: Treasurers reports read out at the A.G.M. which followed the general meeting. Affiliations to the British Schools Cycling Association, British Cycling, Easter Counties Cycling Association, have now been paid. The Club's trophy insurance premium has been renewed.
Racing Secretary: Jimmy Hayward is the Club's Hillclimb champion. Jimmy finished 2nd in the Wigmore Hillclimb event, which was the designated club championship event. He was supported by Kevin Armstrong, Megan Panton, George Martin and Samantha Wood (riding her first Hill Climb). In the Catford Hill Climb on Yorks Hill, Jimmy finished fourth again with a personal best time (he has finished 7th, 6th and 4th out of his three attempts), supported by Alex Pearson and Adib Ozman. In the National Hill Climb Championships at Jackson Bridge Yorkshire, Jimmy finished 42nd in his first National Championship.
Application for Membership: Applications received from James Jenkins, William Jenkins, Lucas Tongue, Darren Whalley, Jackie Hamilton and Alana Fowks-Collins. Members voted to welcome the aforementioned into the club.
Go-Ride Section: The Saturday sessions continue to attract 14/15 members (majority being under the age of 11years). The use of the school ground at Thomas More Eltham has proved to be beneficial especially in wet conditions. However, there are no covered facilities or toilets. The club has approached Bexley Council to enquire if more suitable facilities are available in the Borough. Also an approach has been made to ascertain if the Council can assist with promoting the recruitment of new members for the Club throughout the Borough. Coach Jimmy McCormack has now completed his level 2 coaching qualification. The Club now desperately requires a Welfare Officer. Apparently British Cycling from 2016, will insist that a Club with members under the age of 18, must have an active Welfare Officer. In the absence of an officer it may prove necessary to close down the Go-Ride arm of the Club. Can a Club member/family member please come forward to assist.
Club Runs: It has been proposed that members, especially those under the age of 16, attending a club run ensure that their mobile number is made available to the run leader. It was also suggested that in addition to a run leader a senior member should maintain a position at the back of the group to ensure that no one goes off route/has a mechanical problem. To be tested during forthcoming runs.
Club Christmas Dinner/Annual Prize presentation: To be held on 13th December (The Kings Head, Bexley High Street, restaurant area, at 3 p.m.). Bob Younger the organiser has requested that those wishing to reserve a place please contact him. Closing date 21-11-15-Deposit £5. Places filling up fast.
Club Historian: Following the recent sad death of long serving club member Dave Brimson, Martin Messer has kindly agreed to take responsibility for preserving the Club's written and pictorial historical records.
Club Racing Kit: Club members have now decided on the final version of the new proposed Club Racing Kit. A working committee under the stewardship of Jimmy Hayward is now to approach manufacturers to ascertain cost etc. As the club's jerseys have been manufactured by NICO Sport for many years it was agreed that this company be given the opportunity to quote for the new kit.
