No racing results have been forwarded to the Secretary. Members are reminded to add their results to the club website record. Only 2 club members have entered the 10-mile T. T. this coming Saturday 3-6-17 (Isle of Grain course- club championship). Last year 11 members took part in the event. A reminder is to go out to members that the next 10-mile T. T. (club competition) is on 23-7-17 (E34/10 course Essex). Members have been taking part in the mountain bike events at Bedgebury Forest. Matt Robertson has gained his first UCI points. Matt was racing in Belgium. He finished 12th in the time trial. He also rode in a road race, finishing in 8th position, well done Matt. Megan Panton has also been racing in Belgium. Megan mixed it with the juniors finishing a respectable 16th, highest placed British rider. She also took part in the Tour of the North West.
SERRL: It now transpires that Kent Police are insisting that only accredited marshals will be permitted to be present at the leagues races on the road. This has recently resulted in races being transferred to the Cyclopark circuit to avoid cancellation.
Crystal Palace Criterium: Being held on 11-7-17, club requires to provide marshals. Club members are need to assist on the night, names to Martin Messer. 8 members have come forward but a minimum of 12 are required. The Summer in the Park Series (Cyclopark) is going well. The club marshalled on the evening of 26-5-17 and a big thanks goes to all the members who attended and ensured that the racing went ahead. Velodrome: Club holding an exclusive coaching session on 10-6-17 (incorporates club track championship). SERRL 20-8-17: Assistance from more club members still required. We are assisting with the running of the SERRL divisional championship on the day.
The training/coaching programme continues. This coming Saturday (3-6-17) the members will be riding at Cyclopark (cluster session for local clubs). More coaches are required to assist with the Go-Ride section. The club will assist with the cost of the coaching courses.
Club runs: Members continue to organise the runs on the day of the event. Problems can arise when any of the more established riders, who have taken on the role of group leaders, are not present More club members are required to take responsibility for leading out the respective groups. Social Ride on 21-6-17 is going ahead. Leaving Bexley Village 7pm. Ride to Horton Kirby (Fighting Cocks) remember your lights for the return journey.
Club Kit: Kit to the value of circa £2.5 k. is presently in stock; this includes items of various sizes (to obtain a manufacture discount the club requires to order a minimum of 6 items at a time). It has been proposed that the club in the future will limit the range of items to be ordered e.g. will only order racing vests with a short zip. If a member requires an article specific to their own needs then he or she will have to pay the premium called for by the Manufacturer for one off items. This requires to be discussed by members and the subject will be discussed in more detail at the next club meeting (6-7-17)
Club and the way forward: As the club is having difficulties in persuading members to assist when it comes to marshalling and taking part in racing events questions have been asked; what do members
require from the club and what can they offer. To be discussed at the next club meeting, please come along and offer your views etc.
